UPDATED 8 pm on 1-17-24: The program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. scheduled for Monday at noon in Jonesboro has been postponed to Saturday, January 20th at 5:00 pm. The event will take place at Fullness of Joy Ministries.

Rodney Govens, Democratic candidate for U.S. House in Arkansas’ 1st District, visited with Arkansas State University student Garrett Patron and others today in Jonesboro, in between errands, confirming plans to participate in the 22nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration events happening Monday, January 15th.
Rodney and the team will be at the Fowler Center to meet voters and answer questions before and after the noon program.
Jannie M. Cotton will be the keynote speaker. Cotton, a licensed professional counselor, is the first Black woman in the state to serve as chief executive officer of a significant mental health organization. She recently retired from her position with Professional Counseling Associates in North Little Rock after serving 13 years in that role.
